Roncevic told reporters after the meeting that he had reminded ministers from NATO and PfP member states that Croatia would increase its contingent in Afghanistan to 200 personnel by the end of this year and to 300 by the end of 2008.
"We will increase our role in mentoring the Afghan army. The aim is to make the Afghan military and police capable of taking responsibility in their country," Roncevic said.
Croatia is the only non-NATO member involved in mentoring the Afghan army.
This was the first time new members of the Partnership for Peace programme -- Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, and Serbia -- had participated in an EAPC meeting.
"Croatia has welcomed the admission of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, and Serbia to the Partnership for Peace, because we believe it is the best instrument for our region to become a factor of stability," Roncevic said, adding that Croatia was willing to help those countries and share its experience with them.
