This is the first inspection of the Croatian Armed Forces by a Montenegrin inspection team since Montenegro declared independence.
The Montenegrin inspectors were accompanied by two assistants from the Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE).
The inspection is being carried out in accordance with an annual international defence cooperation plan and the Subregional Arms Control Agreement.
The Subregional Arms Control Agreement was signed in Florence in 1996 by Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina's two entities - the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Republika Srpska, and the now defunct Federal Republic of Yugoslavia (Serbia and Montenegro), with a view to establishing a military balance between the signatories.
