PARIS, June 4 (Hina) - All Balkan countries should become members
of the European Union, Croatia is ready for it, and Macedonia has been doing
well on that path, Italian Prime Minister Romano Prodi said in an interview
with the French radio station Europe 1 on Sunday evening. Prodi went
on to say that Serbia too should be given strong assurances that it would
become an EU member so that problems between Belgrade and Kosovo could be
settled.
Prodi gave the interview ahead of a European summit which is to be held
in late June and mark the end of the German EU presidency.
