ZAGREB, May 30 (Hina) - Croatian Prime Minister Ivo Sanader met a delegation of CDU/CSU members of the German Parliament from Lower Saxony during their visit to Zagreb on Wednesday.

The meeting focused on Croatia's progress towards full membership of the European Union and NATO, the reforms being implemented by the Croatian government and the support Germany was providing to Croatia in Euro-Atlantic integration processes, the Croatian government said in a statement.

Sanader presented the results achieved in the process of EU membership negotiations and thanked Germany as the current EU president for the support it was extending to Croatia in order to step up the negotiating process.

European integration processes and the development of Croatian-German relations in both countries are above party interests, so it is important to promote cooperation at all political and economic levels in the two countries, the statement said.

Enak Ferlemann, the head of the CDU/CSU group from Lower Saxony in the Bundestag, said that the German Christian Democrats were impressed with the progress Croatia had made over the past year and that it was why they strongly supported Croatia's efforts to join the EU in 2009.
