Grabar-Kitarovic spoke about Croatia's experience in dealing with post-conflict situations, particularly with regard to the position of women.
She said her ministry had mediated a visit by women from Afghanistan and Iraq to Vukovar and Vinkovci in eastern Croatia so they could see first hand what had been done after the aggression and war Croatia had been subjected to.
The minister pointed to the importance of women networking not only politically, but also through human contacts, saying that sharing concrete experience and mutual support could encourage not only women, but all those dealing with post-war situations.
The organising group of the participants in the conference, agreed at a previous meeting in New York, convened ahead of the Vienna conference for a meeting chaired by Austrian Foreign Minister Ursula Plassnik and US State Secretary Condoleezza Rice.
Grabar-Kitarovic said the meeting discussed possibilities of mutual support and of increasing the number of women in international institutions.
