ZAGREB, May 11 (Hina) - Croatian President Stjepan Mesic and European Commission President Jose Manuel Barroso met in Zagreb on Friday, ahead of a summit of the Southeast European Cooperation Process (SEECP), to talk about Croatia's
progress on the path to the European union and the situation in the region.

European Commission President Jose Manuel Barroso met in Zagreb on Friday,
ahead of a summit of the Southeast European Cooperation Process (SEECP), to
talk about Croatia's progress on the path to the European union and the
situation in the region. After the half-hour talks, held behind
closed doors, the two officials did not make any statements to the press.
According to the spokeswoman for the President's Office, Danijela
Barisic, Barroso hailed Croatia's progress in the EU accession talks but
stressed that additional efforts needed to be invested in reforming the
judiciary and the public administration sector.
Mesic and Barroso also talked about the situation in Southeast Europe
with an emphasis on Serbia and Kosovo. Barroso is scheduled to address the
issue at the summit's plenary session in Zagreb's Westin Hotel.
