ZAGREB, April 29 (Hina) - Ivica Racan will be remembered in the United States as the man who led Croatia on the path of democracy during a critical period of transition, the US Ambassador to Zagreb, Robert Bradtke, said on Sunday in a message of condolence following the death of the Social Democratic Party leader and former prime minister.
ZAGREB, April 29 (Hina) - Ivica Racan will be remembered in the United States as the man who led Croatia on the path of democracy during a critical period of transition, the US Ambassador to Zagreb, Robert Bradtke, said on Sunday in a message of condolence following the death of the Social Democratic Party leader and former prime minister.

"(Racan) helped create the basis for the strong and positive relations that the United States and Croatia enjoy today," the message said.

Offering his condolences to Racan's family and all Croatians, Bradtke said that Racan was "a person of warmth and decency, who was deeply committed to democratic values."
