"It is important for us that capital come to this country, that jobs be opened, and I don't see a difference between domestic and foreign capital. What is important is the result, that our overall potentials be strengthened," Mesic told the press.
He said it was difficult to comment on how the best bidder for the Sibenik-based light metals factory TLM had been chosen. He insisted on transparent tenders and said the disgruntled party was entitled to lodge a complaint and initiate proceedings for establishing if a better bidder had been disqualified.
"The best solution always is to agree, so one should see if the foreign partner can be integrated with the domestic one," said Mesic.
The Croatian Privatisation Fund Governing Board decided on Thursday that TLM should be sold to a consortium comprised of four Croatian and one Bosnian company.
However, Latvia's UBIG said yesterday that their bid had been better and the tender unfair. They announced a complaint to the Croatian Competition Agency and a protest to the Croatian government.
