The spokesman for the Prosecutor's Office of the State Court of Bosnia-Herzegovina said that the arrested men were the 43-year-old Nisvet Gasal and the 37-year-old Musajb Kukavica, who used to be the commander and the deputy commander respectively of the detention camp at the Bugojno soccer stadium during the war.
The prosecution charges them with war crimes against civilians and prisoners of war from 1993 to 1994.
Over 30 Croats were taken away from their homes and from the camp at the local stadium by Bosnian army troops in the period from 1 to 12 October 1993. Since then, 26 of them have been unaccounted for, although some were registered by the International Committee of the Red Cross as prisoners of war when they were taken to the camp.
It seems certain that they were killed, but their corpses have not been found and an investigation into the circumstances of their deaths is under way.
