In response to questions from the press, Sanader said that he did not think that a majority of Croatians were against the country's entry into NATO.
Quite contrary, a majority supports it, and the support will rise with the admission in the alliance in the offing, the premier said.
He also does not think that Croatia's NATO membership is a topical issue for the pre-election campaign, as he believes that none of the parliamentary parties is against the admission.
Sanader also rejected speculations that his cabinet is late with launching a communication strategy aimed at acquainting citizens with NATO membership advantages.
"The communication strategy is not late as NATO has been so far in the background, with the European Union being a top priority. However, NATO will now become a priority in light of the fact that next year Croatia will be invited to enter (NATO)," he said.
