Grabar Kitarovic informed European deputies of the current state of negotiations with the European Union, expressing satisfaction with the successfully completed screening process.
She pointed out the efforts Croatia was investing in the ongoing reform processes, notably in the judiciary, public administration, return of refugees and meeting economic and other criteria, the statement said.
Speaking about Croatia's role in Southeast Europe, Minister Grabar Kitarovic said Croatia was aware of its responsibility for the future of Southeast Europe.
Expressing satisfaction with progress the region had made in strengthening security, stability and good-neighbourly relations, Grabar Kitarovic said Croatia was chairing the Southeast European Cooperation Process (SEECP) in the crucial moment of the transformation of the architecture of regional cooperation.
The Croatian official also took part in a meeting of the Group of the European People's Party (Christian Democrats) and European Democrats (EPP-ED). Since July 1999, the EPP-ED Group has been the largest political group in the now 785-seat European Parliament. The Croatian minister held talks with the president of the EPP-ED Group Joseph Daul and rapporteur for Croatia in the European Parliament Foreign Affairs Committee, Hannes Swoboda.
