ZAGREB, Feb 15 (Hina) - A lawyer representing Croatian Army
General Ivan Cermak before the Hague war crimes tribunal said on Thursday he
had arranged with Croatian President Stjepan Mesic to appear as a defence
witness at his client's trial. "I asked him (Mesic) to testify for
the defence and he agreed," lawyer Cedo Prodanovic said in a radio programme,
adding that the agreement had been reached several months ago.
Prodanovic guested on the radio programme an hour after the tribunal
announced its decision allowing Cermak to return to Croatia pending trial.
The lawyer said he believed Cermak would return from The Hague on
Friday.
