At a meeting in the northern town of Mitrovica, Serb representatives concluded that the proposal put forward by UN envoy Martti Ahtisaari was entirely unacceptable and that the Finnish diplomat should be fired.
The meeting called on the Serbs, Roma, Goranci and Bosniaks who regard Serbia's southern province as their homeland to stay calm, and insisted that under international law Kosovo was an inalienable part of the Republic of Serbia.
The meeting announced protest rallies would be held across the province, and said that Serb municipal councils in northern Kosovo, where the Serbs are in a majority, would make formal conclusions on Ahtisaari's proposal and submit them to Belgrade.
The first protest rally was announced for Friday in the Serb-majority northern part of Mitrovica.
