After the Alan and Hrvatska tankers, the Donat was a third vessel built for the same client, Zadar-based ship owner Tankerska Plovidba. It is one of the three biggest ships ever built in the Brodosplit shipyard and launched in one piece.
The Suezmax-type tanker is designed for the transport of crude oil and oil products. The vessel is 281.20 metres long, 48.20 metres wide and 23 metres high, and has a carrying capacity of 166,300 gross register tons.
The Donat is powered by a 16,780 kw diesel engine manufactured in the Split shipyard and can develop a maximum speed of 15.8 knots.
Before the Alan, Hrvatska and Donat, the shipyard built eight Suezmax tankers, but some ten metres shorter.
After the launch, the keel was laid for a 65,200 GRT Panamax-type tanker for Swedish shipping company Concordia Maritime.
