The Committee of Permanent Representatives (COREPER), comprising ambassadors of EU member states, on Wednesday evening adopted reports on the screening of three chapters - Information Society and the Media, Company Law and Taxation - and decided that Croatia was prepared to open negotiations on those chapters without additional benchmarks.
With these three chapters, Croatia has so far been asked to submit its negotiating positions on 13 chapters and the country has submitted eight. The Croatian government is currently working on the positions for two chapters - the Statistics and Financial Services.
So far COREPER has adopted reports on 20 chapters - 13 without and seven with benchmarks.
The EU enlargement task force is currently discussing the EU's joint negotiating position for the chapter on Intellectual Property Rights and the European Commission is drawing up a joint position for another two chapters - Right of Establishment and Freedom to Provide Services and Financial Control.
