ZAGREB, Jan 24 (Hina) - The Office of the Croatian Parliament
Speaker on Tuesday received a note from the Australian Embassy in Zagreb
confirming Australia's support for Croatia's candidacy for nonpermanent
membership in the United Nations' Security Council in the 2008-2009 period. The Office of Speaker Vladimir Seks stated on Wednesday that during her
inaugural visit to Sabor last week, new Australian Ambassador Tracy Reid and
Seks discussed possibilities of enhancing bilateral relations and multilateral
activities as well as Croatia-Australia cooperation within international
organisations, notably within the UN.
On that occasion, the parliament chief asked about Australia's position
on Croatia's ambitions to be selected as a nonpermanent member representing
eastern European countries in the Security Council in the 2008-2009 period.
