"The credibility of claims made today by Cigelj is best proven by the statement she made yesterday, confirming that it was her who had sent a request to security services to vet candidates for the Council, without seeing anything controversial about it," said Kosor, who is also Minister of Family Affairs, War Veterans and Inter-Generational Solidarity.
Kosor said that she had realised immediately that the request was inappropriate and intolerable in a democratic society.
The spokesman for the Ministry of Family Affairs, War Veterans and Inter-Generational Solidarity, Berislav Zivkovic, told Hina that Cigelj was replaced because she had sent an unauthorised request to security services to investigate candidates for the Council for the Development of Civil Society.
Cigelj admitted to having proposed that secret services perform a check-up of the candidates, but she claimed that her actions had been in accordance with relevant laws and regulations and that she had received instructions from her superiors for all her actions.
