ZAGREB, Jan 18 (Hina) - The Croatian government on Thursday formulated a draft 2007 National Programme for Accession to the European Union, under which 59 Croatian laws are to be adjusted to European legislation this year.

The programme also provides for the adoption of 231 implementing regulations and 180 implementing decisions.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration, Kolinda Grabar-Kitarovic, said that the plan would be amended, most probably in June, after Croatia received reports on the analysis of adjustment of Croatian legislation to the acquis communautaire for the remaining 11 negotiating chapters.

Since 2007 is an election year, most of the laws should be adjusted in the first two quarters and a smaller number of them in the third quarter, so that the present Parliament could complete the necessary work before elections, Grabar-Kitarovic said.

Prime Minister Ivo Sanader said that this year Croatia could make substantial progress towards EU membership and open negotiations on several more policy chapters.

The government rejected two bids for the purchase of a share in the Sisak Tube Rolling Mill and announced an invitation for new bids.
