VIENNA, Jan 11 (Hina) - Fighting international terrorism and advancing dialogue and cooperation among member states will be in the focus of Spain's presidency of the Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE), Spanish Foreign Minister Miguel Angel Moratinos said in Vienna on Thursday.

Spain will focus on security, peace and the fight against all forms of crime, notably terrorism, the Spanish minister said, presenting his country's priorities in 2007.

He particularly stressed the importance of the fight against intolerance, discrimination and racism.

The wars in the Balkans have ended, but strengthening stability and developing democratic institutions and civil society in those countries remains our priority, Moratinos said.

Democracy cannot be imposed from the outside, it takes time to develop, he said. He also stressed the importance of the OSCE Mission in Kosovo for the development of a civil and multiethnic society based on democratic values.

The new OSCE chairman advocated the strengthening of cooperation with NATO, the UN, the Council of Europe, and Mediterranean and Asian partners so as to advance the fight against terrorism.
