In Split, the second largest city, the slate of independent candidates led by businessman Zeljko Kerum is in the lead with 30.73 percent, according to preliminary results.
The coalition of the SDP, HNS, HSU and Democratic Centre (DC), finished second with 21.35 percent. The HDZ party is currently the third-ranked with 15.30 percent.
In the southernmost city of Dubrovnik, the HDZ-HSS coalition is likely to win the largest number of seats in the city council with 40.40 percent of votes. The coalition of SDP, HNS, HSU and HSLS finished second with 37.84 percent.
The law-making body in town of Velika Gorica, south of Zagreb, is likely to have the largest number of councilors from the HDZ-led coalition (48.20 percent). The SDP-DC-HSLS coalition mustered 37.39 percent of votes, and the HNS got 11.09 votes.
In the central Adriatic city of Zadar, the HDZ-led coalition won 50.48 percent of votes for the city council, and is followed by the SDP-led coalition (30.87).
The law-making body in the biggest eastern city of Osijek will have the largest number of representatives of the coalition between the regional HDSSB party and the HNS (33.42 percent).
The coalition of the HDZ and the Croatian Party of Rights (HSP) follows by 21.73 percent and the slate led by independent candidate Gordan Matkovic (18.95 percent).
