BELGRADE, June 8 (Hina) - Serbia's War Crimes Prosecutor's Office
has launched an investigation against journalists suspected of inciting war
crimes in the 1990s, including former and current journalists and editors of
the dailies "Vecernje Novosti" and "Politika" and the state-run broadcasting
corporation RTS, the Belgrade-based Press daily reported on Monday.
Prosecution spokesman Bruno Vekaric was quoted by Press as saying that
"prosecutors have engaged a team od reporters" to analyse disputable reports
and broadcasts. He declined to specify which media and reports were being
analysed.
"According to our assessment, there were media reports at that time
that incited some of the crimes, but for the sake of the investigation we
cannot say which reports and media companies did it," Vekaric said.
The spokesman added that the investigation covered not just the Serbian
media but also those in in Bosnia and Croatia.
