Day of National and University Library in Zagreb celebrated

ZAGREB, 22 Feb (Hina) - The National and University Library in Zagreb (NSK) on Thursday celebrated its 417th anniversary, as well as its day, which is traditionally observed on 22 February, when the oldest book in the Croatian language and script, Missale Romanum Glagolitice, was printed in 1483.

It is written in the Croatian recension of Church Slavonic and printed in Croatian angular Glagolitic.

Speaking about last year's achievements, the general director of the NSK, Ivanka Stričević, said that in 2023, for the first time, the influx of digital over analog material prevailed, more than 57%, and the total influx was 113,000 items.

She added that, among other things, numerous projects, seminars, conservation-restoration works on analog content, digitisation, book launches, exhibitions, scientific gatherings were implemented in the NSK, a new website was created, and social networks were improved.
