€1.8m invested in "Choose a bike" project in Split area

ZAGREB, 28 Dec (Hina) - New bike paths have been built in Split and Trogir and 41 docking stations for 242 classic and electrical bikes have been set up in eight towns and municipalities as part of the HRK 13.6 million "Choose a bike" project, mostly financed with EU funds, it was said it Split on Wednesday.

A study of the bike path development potential in the Split urban agglomeration area was also done as part of the project.

Split Mayor Ivica Puljak told the press Split and other towns in the area had a problem with a large number of cars and that the plan was to build sufficient parking lots.

The head of the city development department, Vedrana Franić, said the authorities wanted Split residents to use bike-sharing as much as possible, to reduce the use of cars, and to use bikes to improve their health and reduce air pollution.
