Olive Museum opens in Klis

ZAGREB, 21 May (Hina) - Minister of Agriculture Marija Vučković on Friday officially opened the Olive Museum in the southern Croatian town of Klis, in Split-Dalmatia County, and presented contracts on rural development subsidies worth HRK 3.1 million.

The museum is part of the Ethno Agro Park Stella Croatica, owned by the Polić family, and it provides information on the historical development of olive growing in the region, olive morphology and varieties, oil processing and storage and so on.

According to Vučković, there are 2,600 family farms that grow olives on an area of 3,500 hectares.

She noted that the National Recovery and Resilience Plan aims at consolidation of small plots.

She announced that applications would again be invited for incentives for olive oil producers, adding that there are 42 oil processing plants in the county.

After the official opening of the museum, Minister Vučković signed six agreements on support from the Rural Development Programme regarding renewable energy sources, non-agricultural activities such as rural tourism and manure management.

The incentives amount to HRK 3.1 million and one of the recipients is a war veteran co-operative that runs a cattle farm.
