The gold awards were won by three family farms - Kolenko from Nedeljanec, Kurtek from Šemovec and Vidaček from Seljanec.
This is one more proof of the quality of the Varaždin pumpkin seed oil, the first such oil to be protected in Croatia, reporters were told and reminded that two Varaždin pumpkin seed oils, made by Andreja Petrović from Varaždin and Marija Patrčević from Nova Ves Petrijanečka, received gold awards for quality at last year's Monde Selection.
All 3,100 products competing at Monde Selection 2021 were subjected to rigorous analysis, testing and tasting, so the three gold awards constitute an exceptional success and definitive proof of the world value of the Varaždin pumpkin seed oil, said Dragutin Vincek, head of Varaždin County's agriculture and rural development department.
County head Radimir Čačić said Croatia was known for its economy and food products with good reason, but that no other product had achieved such unique world awards. The Varaždin pumpkin seed oil, he added, is the only Croatian product that managed to win gold awards for quality at the world's largest product fair at which more than 90 countries participate.
This excellent result also shows the good work of the Varaždin Pumpkin Seed Oil Association, its constant learning and keeping up with the latest technology and development, Čačić said.
