Procedures are underway to protect the names of another 21 Croatian food products, the ministry said in a statement issued on the Day of Protected Croatian Autochthonous Products.
The Croatian parliament has designated April 14 as the Day of Protected Croatian Autochthonous Products to commemorate 14 April 2015, when the first Croatian product -- prosciutto from Krk -- was registered in the EU as protected geographical indication.
"Croatia has a rich tradition of producing and preparing different agricultural and food products that are of high quality and are made traditionally," Minister Marija Vučković said.
The recognisability of a product depends on the recognisability of the region where it is made, which contributes to a stronger tourism industry, she said, calling on Croatian consumers to buy local, quality products.
