The Berkarar will transport passengers, trucks and other vehicles in the Caspian Sea. It is 155.8 metres long and 17.5 metres wide, can transport 200 passengers and 54 trucks, and will have two 3,060 kW engines and a crew of 34.
The contract was signed in August 2012 and delivery is expected in mid-2014. Construction began this past June.
After the launch, a keel was laid for the second ship Uljanik is building for the State Service of Maritime and River Transportation of Turkmenistan.
