"In Afghanistan, we had 344 troops in the 19th contingent and 291 in the 20th contingent, which shows that the number is constantly declining," the minister said in parliament, submitting a report on the participation of Croatian troops in the ISAF mission from 1 April 2012 to 31 March 2013.
He asked parliament to make a decision on the further participation of Croatian troops in the ISAF mission.
The parliamentary parties supported the report and the participation of Croatian troops in ISAF.
Kotromanovic also reported on Croatia's participation in the peacekeeping Kosovo Force from 1 January 2012 to 23 March 2013, saying HRK 21 million had been spent on the mission.
Speaking of the Atalanta mission in Somalia between 2009 and 2013, in which Croatian troops are "under arms", he said they were well-trained and ready for their tasks, primarily the protection of vessels transporting humanitarian aid and commercial ships.
Nineteen Croatian troops have taken part in the mission, mainly officers, and HRK 5 million has been spent, Kotromanovic said, adding that 25 troops should soon be engaged in ship protection teams.
