Finmin insists on revoking incentives for home savings

Autor: half
ZAGREB, Oct 17 (Hina) - Finance Minister Slavko Linic insists on revoking all state incentives for home savings, while Entrepreneurship and Crafts Minister Gordan Maras says the government should still discuss this.

"If the government is economising - it is reducing salaries to all public sector employees, teachers, professors, doctors - then I think that savings should be made in all segments. It is unacceptable to save on those who get the least. We will also be cutting some higher pensions. HRK 5,500 (approx. 725 euros) is not a large pension, but we will cut these too," Linic told reporters.

He said that opposition to this proposal of his, showed that "the building society lobby is very strong."

Maras said he could say neither yes nor no to the revocation of incentives on home savings and that the matter would be discussed by the government.
