Autor: half
BAJAKOVO, Oct 17 (Hina) - Human trafficking is the most drastic violation of human rights and freedoms as well as one of the biggest international problems and growing phenomena, with annual profits from trading in women for sexual exploitation exceeding US$ 12 billion, it was said on Thursday on the occasion of European Anti-Trafficking Day, which is observed on October 18.

Croatian and Serb police representatives marked the occasion on the Bajakovo border crossing, presenting the "Two Little Girls" film and campaign to raise awareness of the risk girls face when travelling to other countries attracted by employment offers or for romantic reasons.

The campaign is being promoted in Croatia, Serbia, Albania, Macedonia, Moldova, Bulgaria, Belarus, Romania, Lithuania, Latvia, Ukraine, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Slovenia.

Since 2002, 126 victims of human trafficking have been identified in Croatia, including ten in the first nine months of this year, Croatian Police director Vlado Dominic told reporters. "Human trafficking is the gravest of crimes crime. The Croatian, Serbian and Bosnian police forces are cooperating to prevent human trafficking and civilian organisations are a big help."

More than 599 criminal complaints against 893 people have been filed in Serbia in the last ten years and about 600 people, mainly girls and women, have been protected from exploitation and trafficking, said Serbian Police director Milorad Veljovic.

He said Serbian-Croatian cooperation in the prevention of human trafficking was yielding results.
