ZAGREB, Oct 16
(Hina) - The Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) on
Wednesday supported a proposal put forward by the Social Democratic
Party (SDP) senior coalition party in government to amend the
Constitution so that the statute of limitations may be eliminated for
first-degree murders, however the HDZ made its support conditional on
a special provision to eliminate the statue of limitations on murders
committed on behalf of the Yugoslav communist regime and the adoption
of a constitutional law that would exclude the possibility of
launching procedures in Croatia for cases that are already being
processed in some other European Union member state.
