GEN-I to further cut electricity prices by 8.2 pct

Autor: half
ZAGREB, Sept 16 (Hina) - The Slovenian GEN-I company announced on Monday that as of early October, it would additionally cut the price of electricity by 8.2 per cent as part of its "Cheaper electricity" offer.

GEN-I thus responded to the decision of the state-owned power company HEP to reduce the price of electricity by 6-7 per cent as of October 1.

The Slovenian company said the additional cut would still keep its prices 10 per cent lower than HEP's, "whereby GEN-I is confirming its promise that it will always be the most affordable on the Croatian market."

The company said that households which switched from HEP to its services could save up to 20 per cent on power bills this winter in comparison to last year.

It said that HEP again did not say how much it would cut prices for small businesses, which GEN-I said remained high, whereas it enables them to save up to 30 per cent.

GEN-I Group chairman of the board Robert Golob said the HERA regulator's recent decision to change the pricing methodology for electricity supply was excellent news for all clients and that it confirmed GEN-I's claims that electricity in Croatia was too expensive and that there was plenty of room to reduce it.

The GEN-I Zagreb company has received more than 12,000 queries about its services and has more than 4,500 clients in Croatia.

The company recalled that it would offer all clients who signed contracts by the end of October free electricity for the first month and that it would not raise prices until the end of 2015, during which time it might lower them.

GEN-I presented its "Cheaper electricity" offer in mid-June.
