Speaking at the main Bajram service in a Sarajevo mosque, Reis Kavazovic said this holiday was yet another reminder of the need to strengthen Muslim unity as well as the fight for the universal values contained in the foundations of their religion.
He said Muslims were known throughout history for having fought against those who endangered the human rights of others, their property, freedom of conscience and religion.
He called for fighting against injustice and violence, whether they came from an individual or unjust authorities, stressing that it was a disgrace how Muslims were being killed in Egypt and Syria. "Those are crimes which we condemn in the strongest terms, and the suffering of our brothers in those countries must stop."
Kavazovic said Bosnian Muslims wanted to live in peace with themselves and their neighbours, respecting the state in which their homes were. "Bosnia and Herzegovina is our homeland and the homeland of all citizens. A country should be taken care of, a homeland should be loved and a state built, which is why we are sensitive about anything that endangers our state, people and homeland."
He once again called on all Bosniaks in Bosnia to use their national names and the Bosnian language in the upcoming population census.
