PM's office says it's pointless to prosecute people who booed him

Autor: half
ZAGREB, Aug 6 (Hina) - Prime Minister Zoran Milanovic's office said on Tuesday it was pointless to prosecute the persons who booed him during a speech in Knin yesterday on Victory and Homeland Thanksgiving Day, saying in a statement that the right to criticise and express one's opinion was something usual and normal in democracy.

Voicing dissatisfaction at a gathering at which politicians participate does not necessarily constitute disturbing the peace, notably when there is no violence or a threat of violence, said the statement.

Local police said earlier today that a man was brought to the Knin police station after police assessed his involvement in the booing and insulting of Milanovic during his speech in Knin on Monday as disturbance of the peace. The police announced they would press charges against him and continue the investigation of yesterday's events.
