Serbian police said a group of people opened fire on Sunday evening on the police while illegally chopping wood inside Serbia. Kosovo police, however, claim shots were fired at people who went to chop wood on the Serbian side of the border, adding that the six injured persons were hospitalised in Pristina.
Both sides claim an investigation was under way. The Serbian police said they have reported the incident to the European Union Rule of Law Mission in Kosovo (EULEX) and the NATO-led Kosovo force (KFOR). EULEX and KFOR have not yet issued their reaction to the incident which could fuel tensions amid efforts by Serbia and Kosovo to normalise ties.
