Autor: half
BRUSSELS, June 24 (Hina) - A model of Zagreb's St. Mark's Church was unveiled at the Mini-Europe park in Brussels on Monday ahead of Croatia's accession to the European Union on July 1.

The model was unveiled by Zagreb Mayor Milan Bandic, with Croatian President Ivo Josipovic, diplomats and many guests in attendance.

Bandic, Croatian Ambassador to Belgium Mario Nobilo and park director Thierry Meeus delivered speeches, after which the Croatian and European anthems were played and red, white and blue balloons were released into the air. There was also a fireworks display.

The Mini-Europe park, a famous tourist attraction, is located at the foot of the Atomium structure, the symbol of Brussels, where the Croatian flag was hoisted.

"Croatia is evidently welcome in the European Union. The warm reception we were given here and in other places says that everyone indeed sees Croatia as a part of Europe. St. Mark's Church is a symbol of many things and today it stands next to important monuments from all over Europe. We are all proud together," said President Josipovic.

After the unveiling, Croatian Deputy Culture Minister Berislav Sipus opened at the park the "Croatian Press Photo" exhibition.

Later today, the Croatian Chamber of Commerce's "Be CROative" exhibition will be opened outside the European Parliament building, and the Croatian Radio and Television Symphonic Orchestra will give a concert in Brussels in the evening.
