Enlargement Commissioner Stefan Fuele will welcome Croatian and Bosnian foreign ministers on Wednesday to discuss issues related to the crossing of the state border after Croatia joins the EU. These are very important issues, notably for Bosnia, and we hope it will be possible to sign the appropriate agreements tomorrow, Fuele's spokesman Peter Stano said on Tuesday.
If there are more outstanding issues, we expect relevant officials to reach an agreement to the benefit of both countries and their citizens, he added.
The Serb member of the Bosnian Presidency, Nebojsa Radmanovic, voted against adopting agreements on border crossings and local border traffic with Croatia at a Presidency session on Monday, prompting Security Minister Fahrudin Radoncic to say that a blockade and chaos would ensue on July 1, when Croatia joins the EU, because Bosnian citizens would not be able to enter and business people to export to Croatia and the EU.
The Bosniak and Croat Presidency members, Bakir Izetbegovic and Zeljko Komsic respectively, voted for the two agreements, but they cannot go into force because of Radmanovic's rejection.
Three documents are to be signed on Wednesday - an agreement on border crossings, an agreement on local border traffic, and a joint note on transit through Neum, Bosnia.
