Your work is of outstanding importance for Croatia and your obligations are big, notably in times of economic crisis, the president said, stressing that Croatia's accession to the European Union on July 1 created new possibilities for the work of honorary consuls.
Speaking on behalf of all consuls, the honorary consul to the Philippines, Edgardo P. Reyes, said this reception was an opportunity to find out more about Croatia, which would be of great use in their work.
About 60 honorary consults and heads of HGK foreign offices arrived in Zagreb for the first conference of honorary consuls organised by the foreign ministry to discuss the strengthening of their activities in promoting Croatian tourism and attracting foreign investments.
The foreign ministry said the consuls would meet with the top state officials and representatives of relevant economic institutions during their two-day stay in Croatia.
