Croatian authorities worked with the Security and Intelligence Agency and the Serbian police, and security for Friday's event costs about HRK 700,000, reporters were told.
Asked what the police would do if there was a mass chanting of "Kill, kill the Serb," Police Director Krunoslav Borovec said this was a punishable offence motivated by hatred and discrimination and that it was the organiser's obligation to maintain peace and order at the stadium and warn the audience, interrupt the match or cancel it.
The police will tape everything at the stadium and it will be a matter of estimating on the spot if they should intervene, said Borovec.
The Croatian national team's coach, Igor Stimac, appealed on Croatian supporters to encourage their team only by cheering and not with hateful outbursts against the other team.
