HSP AS party seeks PM's resignation

Autor: half
ZAGREB, March 17 (Hina) - The Croatian Party of Rights Dr. Ante Starcevic (HSP AS) wants Prime Minister Zoran Milanovic to resign over statements which it deems inappropriate, stressing that the incumbent government is incapable of carrying out the task the Croatian people has entrusted it with.

In a memo delivered to the government, parliament, the Constitutional Court and the media on Sunday, the HSP AS condemned in the strongest terms Milanovic's criticism of party president Ruza Tomasic.

Describing him as "the accidental prime minister of a suitable and incompetent government," the HSP AS called on "the relevant institutions to take urgent measures envisaged by the law against" Milanovic.

The party also condemned in the strongest terms Milanovic's statement which it said "clearly defines the defensive Homeland War as a civil war," saying this was in contravention of the Constitution.

The presidents of the Croatian Democratic Union's (HDZ) Split county and city branches, Ante Sanader and Petar Skoric respectively, told the press in Split that Milanovic's "civil war" statement insulted the Homeland War, war veterans and especially the 15,000 killed in the 1991-95 war.

Sanader said Milanovic also breached "the Homeland War Declaration and the Council of Europe Declaration."

Skoric urged Milanovic to either resign or apologise, saying it was scandalous of the PM to "turn the Greater Serbian aggression into a civil war."

Also today, the Croatian Volunteer Doctors 1990-1991 Association asked in a statement that impeachment proceedings be initiated against Milanovic in parliament, saying that with his statement that Croatia had a civil war he gravely insulted the Homeland War volunteers and defenders as well as disrespected parliament's declaration on the Homeland War.

Milanovic today dismissed the accusations that he said there had been a civil war in Croatia, saying his statement on Nova TV was cut in mid-sentence so viewers did not hear him say that Croatia was the only state joining the European Union which had a destructive war and a military aggression.
