"Erjavec has brought the issues related to Ljubljanska Banka and Croatia practically to the end, which should be in Slovenia's interest," Alenka Bratusek, MP of the Positive Slovenia (PS) party, said in a statement in response to Jansa's decision to withdraw Erjavec from the negotiations and replace him with Tone Kajzer, a state secretary in his cabinet.
Bratusek leads the PS instead of Ljubljana Mayor Zoran Jankovic, who withdrew from politics on state level. The PS is Slovenia's biggest parliamentary party and trying to form a new parliamentary majority in a bid to form an interim government in the current political crisis rocking the country.
Bratusek said that with his decision, Jansa had broken an agreement between the political leaders and President Borut Pahor under which all political parties would make an effort towards solving the issue of the now-defunct Ljubljanska bank and ratifying Croatia's accession treaty with the European Union.
"Because of his internal political difficulties, the prime minister is evidently willing to put everything on the line, including state interest," said Bratusek.
