The cabinet that received the no confidence vote consists of eight SDP ministers and nine ministers from the Party of Democratic Action (SDA), the Party of Rights (HSP) and the Prosperity Through Work Party (NSRzB). However, the SDP disbanded the coalition in June 2012 and its new coalition partners then made several attempts to change the structure of the government in that entity.
As many as 58 deputies in the 98-seat lower house today voted for no confidence in the cabinet.
The decision has to be confirmed by the upper chamber of the entity's parliament, the House of Peoples. However, an SDA parliamentarian said this party would use its right to launch a mechanism for the protection of national interests, which would obstruct the procedure in the upper house until the constitutional court handed down a ruling on the resumption of the procedure.
According to some possible scenarios, the current cabinet in the Federation may function as an interim government until the next election, likely to be held in the autumn of 2014.
