WENGEN/ZAGREB, Jan 20 (Hina) - Croatia's best skier Ivica Kostelic came third in the World Cup Wengen Men's Slalom on Sunday with the time 1:50.78, behind Felix Neureuther of Germany (1:50.53) and Marcel Hirscher of Austria (1:50.74).

With today's podium, his ninth in Wengen, Kostelic rose to fifth place in both slalom and overall standings. He has 255 slalom points and 477 overall points, the latter a tie with Manfred Moelgg of Italy. Hirscher leads in both, with 600 slalom points and 935 overall points.

On Friday, Kostelic came second in the first super combined, scoring his best result this season. He was 21st after the downhill race, but a very good slalom race brought him to second place, making him the first skier with eight podiums in this discipline. He scored six of his 24 World Cup race victories on the famous Lauberhorn course - six in the slalom and two in the super combined.

On Saturday, Kostelic was 29th in the downhill race with the time 2:33.26. The winner was Crisopher Innerhofer of Italy with 2:29.82. This was Kostelic's fifth downhill race in Wengen, where he scored his best result in 2011, winning 12th place.
