Arabica prices hovered in positive territory for the bulk of Monday's session, after a robust rally on Friday helped shore up the market's technical outlook. But the market was unable to carve out new ground today, staying well within the previous session's ranges. Most-active March delivery rose 0.95 cent a lb on the day, to 113.10 cents, while May gained 1.00 cent, to 110.60. The day's turnover reached a meager 3,971 lots. Technically, March would need to pierce through Friday's high of 113.90 to give the market further impetus, with 115 seen as a crucial upside objective. Underneath the market, 110.50 cents was an important support level, followed by 109 and 105. Stock data released after the close of trading Monday showed a sharp build in CSCE certified coffee inventories. Certified coffee stocks jumped by a whopping 21,744 60-kg bags as of December 20, to 34,315 bags, led by increases in Guatemalan and Venezuelan supplies. CSCE has scheduled a half-day session for December 24, with coffee futures trading slated to close at 1135 EST/1635 GMT. The exchange is closed on Christmas Day, December 25. 241111 MET dec 96
