A pre-weekend, pre-holiday mood overcame trader after a volatile week in which prices ranged from 10.53 cents to 10.89 cents, basis the most-active March contract. March ended the week near the middle of the week's range at 10.69, down 0.02 on the day. The back months ended flat. Traders noted some short covering and fund buying. Local and trade selling, and selling in the spreads, were also noted. Volume was slim at an estimated 7,928 lots. On the charts, firm support in March was pegged at 10.50, with lighter support noted between 10.50 and 10.63. Producers have been steady scale-up sellers throughout the week, capping the market's attempt to rally to psychologically key 11.00 cents.
