Trading in soft oils, which had been subdued during the morning, picked up as the Chicago futures easied after opening higher, but traders said there was no tonnage behined the business. Palm oil saw no further trading and by the close sellers were little changed from midday. Crude palm oil cif Europe closed unchanged to $5 up while refined palm oil sellers were unchanged to $5 down. Lauric oils closed lower with coconut oil $5 down and palmkernel oil unchanged to $2.50 down. In light trading Nov/Dec coconut oil fetched $800, Dec/Jan $772.50 and Jan/Feb $760 a tonne cif. Dec/Jan palmkernel oil traded at $735 a tonne cif. In the soft oil sector Dutch soy oil was unchanged to one guilder higher after Dec traded at 87.75 and 88.00, Jan at 88.75 and Feb/Apr at 90.75 guilders a 100 kilos fob ex-mill. Dutch/EU rape oil finished 0.25 to 0.50 guilders up after Dec traded at 93.00, Jan at 93.50, Feb/Mar at 94.50 and May/Jul at 95.75 guilders a 100 kilos fob ex-mill. Based on sellers' prices, the premium for rape oil over soyoil was 3.50 to 4.75 guilders at the close against three to five guilders on Monday.
