A techinical rally in Chicago soybean futures underpinned closing prices along with a steady close in Malaysia following the release of a friendly crop estimate by Ivon Wong. Malaysia private forecaster Ivan Wong put local November palm oil output at 770,000 tonnes, 13 percent down from October. End-November stocks were estimated at 650,000 tonnes against 727,629 at end-October while exports were put at 650,000 tonnes against 727,629 in October. At the close crude palm oil cif Europe was unchanged to $2.50 up while refined palm oil was unchanged to $2.50 up after olein fetched $556.50 a tonne fob Malaysian ports during the afternoon. Coconut oil finished $10 to $12.50 up with no business reported while palmkernel oil was mixed at $2.50 up to $2.50 down. Among soft oils soy oil closed 0.75 to one guilder higher after Feb/Mar traded a couple of times at 89.50 guilders a 100 kilos fob ex-mill. Dutch/EU rape oil close without trading at 1.50 guilders up on the day. Based on sellers' prices, the premium for rape oil over soy oil was two to 5.25 guilders at the close against 3.75 to 4.50 guilders at Wednesday's close.
