Higher than expected U.S. soybean stocks as of September 1 and forecast warm and dry weather for the coming week in the U.S. Midwest sent Chicago futures tumbling. The USDA put soybean stocks at September 1 at 183.2 million bushels against trade expectations of 163 to 175 million. Earlier Malaysian cargo surveyor Societe Generale de Surveillance (SGS) had put local palm oil exports for September at 672,153 tonnes against 708,601 tonnes in August. At the close in Europe Dutch soy oil was 0.50 guilders down while rape oil was one guilder lower on tradeless markets. Crude palm oil closed $2.50 to $7.50 down while refined palm oil was $5 to $7.50 down. In light trade crude palm oil fetched $545 a tonne for Oct and $527.50 and $526 for Nov/Dec cif Europe. RBD palm oil traded at $506.50 for Oct while Oct olein fetched $535 and $532.50 and Nov/Dec $525 a tonne fob Malaysian ports. Coconut oil finished unchanged to $5 down after Dec/Jan traded at $715 while palmkernel oil closed $7.50 to $5 lower on a neglected market.
