In an increasingly familiar pattern, prices hovered in positive territory for much of the session, but steady pressure from producing countries forced the market back down ahead of the close. "There was very good origin selling from Colombia and Brazil," said one trader. "Every time we rallied, origins capped the market." The industry was also active at the lows, with roasters showing some buying interest toward the 104-cent area, basis December. Most-active December fell 0.80 cent a lb on the day, to 103.60, just off the session floor of 103.50. Second-month March eased 0.35 cent, to 100.60, while the deferred contracts rose 0.05 to 0.35 cent. Volume was moderate, at an estimate 6,526 lots. On the charts, traders said December appeared poised to test key support in the 102.25-101.50 area, while a crucial upside hurdle awaited at 107.25 cents. 201055 MET sep 96
