Prices meandered in a narrow 0.05-cent range throughout the session. With few new fundamentals to inspire the market, many operators elected to sit out the session, and the day's volume was estimated at only 6,922 lots. "There was light fund liquidation early on, against scale-up short-covering by the trade, but there was no follow-through either way," said one trader. March futures fell 0.05 cent a lb to close at 12.26 cents, while May closed at 12.24 cents, down 0.02 cent on the day. The back months ended down 0.01 to 0.02 cent. Light speculative liquidation of spot longs helped to narrow the nearby switch, with bids heard at 0.03 cent into the close versus 0.05 on Monday. Technically, today's low of 12.26 represented fairly good nearby support basis March. Major downside objectives were seen at 12.20 and 12.15 cents.
